» The Lord Kitchener
Claimed to be one of the oldest pubs in Oxfordshire, the Lord Kitchener is situated on the A4095 Bampton road at Curbridge near Witney. Apparently the pub was originally known as The Head of Swine! Quite when the name changed no one knows but presumably sometime after the First World War in recognition of the Secretary of war, Lord Horatio Kitchener, whose face featured on the famous army recruitment poster and now hangs proudly on the pub sign.
