RELATING TO YOUR OWN SITES SEARCH ENGINE VISIBILITY
We offer website owners a variety of different options for inclusion in our Directory including one that is totally Free!
The notes below are to help you with your site submission and should answer any queries that you may have. Our TOS (Terms of Sale) can be viewed here should you have any reservations (although we wish to assure you that we are a totally genuine and sincere bunch of folk!) do feel free to contact us here with any questions that you may have.
To add a link navigate to the section you require your website to be featured in and then click on the phrase at the top of that page "Submit your site here"
You will be asked for the URL of your website (you do not need to add "http") and your email address. Having entered this information click the "Next" to be taken to the next stage.
You will then be offered a variety of link options unless you have opted to link from a Top or Town Category (in which case you can only select "Featured Link - Town Category")
If you have not selected the Top or Town Category you will have four options available to you. They are..
Category Listing - Your website will be featured in the listings in that section. No Reciprocal Link to us is required.
Category Listing with Reciprocal Link - This is the same as the Category Listing above but TOTALLY FREE - All we ask is that before entering your link in our site is that you have already published a link to our directory from your website. Details of basic minimum text link required is shown on the application form. Additional links including banner links can be found on our "Link to Us" Page.
- This option ideally should be taken from the Main Town Category rather than the sub Category (See above)
Featured Link - Your entry will be highlighted and placed above the Regular and Reciprocal Links. No Reciprocal Link to us is required but again if you wish to add one we would appreciate it!
Featured + 3 Deep Links - If you select this option you can list not only your main website address but up to three further pages from your website the links for which will be displayed in the extra details for your entry when that option is selected.
- This option is for a listing under your chosen category plus payment for a banner ad which will appear between the listings on every page in rotation with a maximum of 6 other advertisers. You must submit your banner link code and banner MUST be 468 x 60 pixels in size. If you are unable to host your own banner then please contact us and we will arrange to host your banner for you free of charge. For more information on banner code see our banner example on our "Link to us" page.
Form Completion
Having selected from Options 1 to 6 the following areas need to be completed on your site submission form.
"Title" Please enter your business title (maximum of 75 characters including spaces) Please also start EVERY word with a Capital Letter
"URL" Please enter the URL for the website home page. You do not have to enter http://
"Description" Your business description should be between 50 and 650 characters long (including spaces and punctuation). Our site will attempt to complete this text for you based on the meta description in your website. This text can then be edited by you if you wish. If the Title and Description does not auto complete then this feature has not been included in your website and you will have to enter it manually. If that is the case with your website then we would also recommend that you contact your website designer and ask him to include "Meta Description" in your html code as this element is also used by some search engines as the descriptive text for your website
"Keywords" Please enter keywords for your directory entry. These are keywords for our site search engine rather than other search engines. Separate them with a comma. You can enter a maximum of 55 characters
"Email" Enter your email address to allow us to communicate with you. We will confirm the acceptance of your entry by email.
"Reciprocal Link URL" If you have opted for Option 2 above you should have already have uploaded a link to our site from yours. Enter in here the URL that contains the link to our website. Your application will not be accepted if this is not in place
"Reciprocal Link" This is there for those using Option 2 and shows the minimum reciprocal link code required. Further examples can be found on our "Link to Us" page.
"Optional Message to the Administrator" If you have opted for one of our revolving banner ads that will appear on every page please enter in here the html code that links to your banner. (Also see below) This box can also be used if you do not wish to pay for your entry by PayPal and require us to invoice you. Please request in this box that we send you an invoice (£5.00 admin fee applies) and provide us with a billing address and telephone number.
Agree to Our TOS (Terms of Sale) Box Please select the tick box to agree to our Terms of Sale. Your submission cannot be completed until this has been ticked. Our Terms of Sale can be read below and clicking on that link will take you to this page as well.
Press Submit You will be taken to a summary page that will give details of your submission along with a thumbnail of your website (Some sites may not generate a thumbnail immediately and if that is the case then please see below) There will be an option to make payment by PayPal below your site summary.
Make Payment To pay for your entry please click on the Paypal Logo on the page which will take you to Paypal's secure payment page where you can pay by credit Card or via your PayPal account. Please note that it is not required that you have a PayPal account to pay in this fashion. If you have opted to pay by cheque and have already advised us then please ignore this option and simply navigate away from this page. We will have your site submission details and we will invoice you for the cost of your submission plus a £5.00 handling charge although please note that your entry will not be approved until your payment has been made and your cheque cleared.
Banner Ads
We offer you the opportunity to enter your banner ad on our rotating ads which means your ad will appear on every page but rotated with a few other advertisers. If you wish to place such an ad please ensure you enter the html code for your banner ad in the message box on your submission form. Please note that it is your responsibility to ensure that this linking code is published on the internet and id correct. Should you not have this option then please contact us and we can publish this for you.
Thumbnail Images
All sites submitted will automatically show a thumbnail picture of the home page of your website provided that they have been indexed by Dmoz.org Open Directory Project. If your site does not produce a thumbnail then an image should appear after a few days as soon as it has been indexed by thumbnails.org. If you have not registered your website with the Dmoz.org Open Directory Project we would strongly suggest that you do so as this human edited directory is used as a resource of information by all the major search engines and not being listed will seriously affect your search engine rankings!
